GRADE SCALE

Number mean words and words mean numbers in the current world of baseball scouting. In my reports, the adjectives I use to describe the ability of a player are not randomly selected. I use specific words to indicate 13 different numbers along the traditional 20-80 grade scale. This is what it looks like:

80 – Elite/Outstanding

75 – Superior/Excellent

70 – Plus-Plus/Well-Above Average

65 – Great/ All-Star

60 – Plus/Good/Above Average

55 – Strong/Slightly Above Average

50 – Solid/Big-League Average

45 – Nice/Slightly Below Average

40 – Fair/ Below Average

35 – Decent/Playable

30 – Weak/ Well-Below Average

25 – Poor/Bad

20 – Very Poor/Terrible
